The Allison Bloom Memorial Scholarship, endowed by the Allison J. Bloom Paramedicine Leadership Education Foundation, will be open to any aspiring EMS leader who is interested in acquiring the knowledge and skills to lead EMS systems now and in the future. This program will provide a defined profession specific mentoring open to EMS Supervisors, Managers, or other EMS leaders.
The online 2023-2024 scholarship application process will open on March 1 and will close May 1, 2023. The Foundation’s scholarship committee will select winners and they will be announced at the Pinnacle Leadership Conference. The Foundation is endowed by the EMS consulting firm Fitch & Associates, other major organizations, and individuals that believe that the future of our profession requires the aggressive development of its future leaders. During a career of more than 30 years, Allison served as an EMS attorney, consultant, coach, author and educator. She was extremely proud of her certification as an Emergency Medical Technician and had previously served as an EMS Chief of Service, Director of Training and Director of Personnel of the Easton (CT) Volunteer EMS.
From 2015 to 2020 Allison served on the Board of Directors with the National EMS Management Association (NEMSMA) and was a Fellow in the American College of Paramedic Executives (FACPE). Allison led the charge for a certification program for EMS Managers and worked with industry experts and trade shows to advance the program.
Allison passed away in late 2021 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Her advocacy for women in EMS leadership continues through the endowment of an annual mentoring scholarship in cooperation with the Fitch EMS Foundation.
